It is a birth control. If women take the amount their doctor tells them, then they do not get pregnant.

Sprintec, like the majority of oral hormonal pills are far greater than 99. 9% effective. If taken properly and according to the package insert, the chance of becoming pregnant is less than 1/500,000.

As with all types of contraception there is always a small risk of getting pregnant at least 1-2% in most cases.
