If your female hamster was paired with an adult male hamster, it is likely that she is pregnant. You will notice her getting fatter and heavier. She will prepare for the babies by hiding food and making a nest. You may also notice that she is drinking a lot of water.

Pregnancy only lasts 16 days. You will notice a swelling abdomen, pronounced nipples and increased appetite. But please do not breed your hamster. It could kill her if she is over 6 months old and you could end up with 20 babies. It is MUCH more responsible to adopt.

Wait a while. Another option is to take the hampster to a veterinarian. The hampster will appear swollen and warm since the babies are generating heat. You could also check the cage for eggs. Just kidding.
