There are over 2000 starfish species in the wild but there no where near that in home aquariums. The common star fish in aquariums are the brittle starfish, micro stars and the sand starfish. A few others like the linkia starfish are seen as well. Starfish, more so the micro stars are a valid source of food for fish.

Starfish are echinoderms belong to the Asteroida.There are 2000 living species of starfish leave in our oceans,including the Pacific,Atlantic,Indian as well in Arctic and Southern ocean.Most of the species of starfish are predator.They eat mollusks such as clams,oyster,snails or any other animals that are too slow to evade their attack.
