Between kangaroos and wallabies there are about 60 species ranging through Australia, Tasmania, New Guinea and nearby islands. They vary in size from the full-size kangaroo you are accustomed to seeing, to the size of rats.

There are at least six different species of kangaroo, and all of them live in Australia and have joeys for children.
