I have dabbled in electrical for a while, and my uncle is an electrician. According to him, eight is the best. You can possible put ten, but he recommends eight as the limit.

three receptacles are in a 15 amp circuit 1. the main phase wire. 2. the amin neutral wire. 3. the main earth wire. The phase wire commonly connects at the right side, the neutral wire commonly connects left side and the earth wire is at the top of outlet. It should be thicker than the others.

You can have an unlimited number of receptacles on a fifteen amp circuit, but when wiring up a outlet circuit you must consider what will possibly be on this circuit, use common sense.

If we assume that each receptacle will draw around 180va, and that the circuit can handle 80% of its rated load at any time, then the math works out to 1440va on the entire circuit, and that divided by 180va gives a total of 8 receptacles.

You are going to have one receptacle for every amperage. So for a fifteen amp circuit you are going to have fifteen receptacles.

There are actually 15 of them on a 15 amp circuit. Number of circuit watts will equal to the amount of receptacles.
