There are officially 1440 minutes in a 24hr day. Though it will always be slightly more as a year isn't exactly 52 weeks or 365 days, hence leap years. The official figure is sufficient for most applications where only a reasonable degree of accuracy will suffice. I cannot think of an occassion when more accuracy would be needed.

You can multiply the number of minutes per hour times the number of hours per day, i.e. (60 minutes / hour)*(24 hours / day) = 1440 minutes / day.
