You may want to get it looked at. The Ferret could have given the puppy rabies. Make sure that both pets are up to date on shots.

It will stay swollen until the bite heals. Typically the area swells at first due to brusing. At this point though if it has been a day since the bite happened its quite likely there is an infection causing the swelling now and your pup will need veterinary attention.

It could be awhile. This is a case where I would take the dog to the vet and have it looked at. The worst thing that will happen is they'll have to give your dog medicine to make the swelling go down. They know more about that type of stuff and you should always ask the vet about these things.
