It depends on the pot. Some run through in two minutes; others take longer. If you are using a large capacity hostess coffee maker, the directions should give brewing time. Otherwise, brew a pot as a test run.

There are small coffee pots that only make four cups of coffee and take only minutes to finish it's percolation cycle, and there are pots that hold twelve cups and take a bit longer. Some coffee makers that make enough for one cup only take seconds for you to have a fresh hot cup of coffee.
