The divorce initiator will often experience an initial sense of freedom, but will suffer a more severe, long-lasting depression once the initial euphoria fades. Divorce opposers usually experience trauma very quickly, but seek help and recover more fully.

It differs from person to person. If you were the one who initiated the divorce then it may take less time then if you were the one who did not initiate it. One is typically more likely to become over their divorce once they have moved on to another relationship.

Everybody deals with loss in a different way. Some people recover quickly, others much more slowly. A divorce is worse than a death. You will recover, but life will always be different. Acceptance is the answer.

The time to get over a divorce is different for everyone, it depends on the situation and what happened in the marriage. Generally, it can take years to deal with all of the emotions and truly get past the disappointment that the marriage has ended.

Getting over a divorce can be very tough. A breakup is difficult and the breakup of a marriage can forever change someone. Some say it takes half the time of the length of the relationship to get over it (ex. 3 year relationship, 1.5 years getting over it)
