Canines typically have heat cycles that can last anywhere from three to four weeks in length. The breed does not alter the heat cycle.

Not medical advice: Smaller dogs tend to go into heat much faster then the larger breeds. Your chi will go into heat at around 4-6 months. Their heat will last for approximately 3 weeks. The first week the heat will be pinkish for a couple days turning to bright red and back to pinkish/white.
