Depending on the species of tortoise the range in longevity of these magnificent creatures varies greaty. The African Tortoise can live for as many as two hundred years making it one of the longest living creatures on earth. There are smaller tortoises which are common in such places as the United States, with shorter life spans.

Most tortoises or even turtles in general live up to be 60 years. However, this is with proper care and treatment. They will need a great environment to live in to keep them in such a long living state.

It depends on the breed of Tortoise but most can live to be over 100 years old, the same as Parrots. There is a Galapagos Tortoise, one of, if not, the last of it's kind that is well over a 100. They are trying to breed it to save the species.
