You should talk to your doctor and follow his or her advice about when they feel it is best to start running again. You should start walking on your ankle when you feel it is ready and steadily build up your pace day by day until you feel your ankle is stable and strong enough to run on again.

This has to be decided by your doctor based on the intensity of the sprain.Normally it takes several weeks, say 6 to 8weeks to run or recover from the sprain.

There is no specific timeframe one should follow when wanting to jog after spraining an ankle, as severities of sprains differ. Start once the pain has subsided.

You are normally advised to rest for a month after the injury, it is because it will take some time for the ankle to recover.

It depends on how bad you've sprained it. At least two weeks before you can start running again, and even then you will have to take it slowly and work up to longer distances. A sprained ankle stays with you a long time, even after you can run again. Be careful and don't push it.

The best thing to do is to consult with your doctor before running. Because some sprains are worse than others, only a doctor can determine what is best for you.
