Strep C is worse than other types of strep because it does not come up on a rapid antigen test so that patient may be sent home with no treatment or inadequate treatment. This alone makes it more serious than other strep infections. Strep C can be deadly in children.

Strep C is a severe sore throat infection, and you run high fevers up to 103 degrees. Any strep is bad, this could be worse because of affecting your organs.

It is no worse than A or B, but unlike A and B, C cannot be detected by the "quick strep" (rapid antigen) test. It only shows in a culture.
