Mountain Standard Time is 2 hours earlier than Eastern Standard Time. It is not populated solely by mountains but includes plains, valleys, deserts, and other geographical areas.

There is a two hour time difference between these two zones. Mountain Standard Time is two hours earlier. The Rockie Mountains border the western part of the state only.
