This method has been used for over ten years and has a recurrence rate of less than 1/2 percent. That percentage is lower than any other technique used, and could be the most effective method available.

There are many types of mesh available for the hernia. The effectiveness of the mesh will depend on the type, the surgeon technique and skill as well as the site of the hernia. the tissue will normally grow inside the mesh and making it more secure.

As with any surgery, there is a risk of complication. Mesh inserts for hernias are used to give support to the abdominal muscles while they heal. They are not ment to do the work of the abdominal muscles. If there is a strain on them during the healing process they may fail.

It is very effective. It is the same principle as using reinforcing mesh in a concrete wall. It helps shore up the muscle wall to prevent a recurrence of the hernia.

The mesh insert has became a standard in the hernia surgery, and it is quite effective, cause it reduces a lot the risk of recurring of the hernia. It is attached to the wall, and strengthens the spot, thus giving a sense of security to the person carrying it.

This seems like an OLD question! I was under the impression that mesh inserts were the only way to repair hernias effectively and permanently. Back in the 1990's, my father's hernia was repaired with a mesh insert, and from then on it was never an issue!

It is actually pretty effective. I noticed quite a bit of a difference when I had it done. It will be about 75% more effective.

herniorapphy is not that effective that's why the recommend this mesh which is a sheet that is being placed because this doesn't allow the part of intestines to pass

It really depends on the location and most of all the size of the hernia. In general mesh repairs are more durable than just over sewing. Discuss the relapse rate and options with your surgeon.
