How does water pollution effect the environment?

Water pollution can be a result of everything from improper disposal of prescription medicines to cleaning products, to chemical plants upstream from an ecosystem. The polluted water gets ingested by the animals downstream (or in the ocean) and can result in animal sickness and contaminated seafood.

It's like a poison. It can hurt an animals' organs or make them extremely sick. It really depends on what type of pollution it is though that will determine what the effect is on the animal.
