Check with your particular state, each may have individual requirements. Be sure you are emotional able to handle the job. In general, an associate's degree in funeral service is needed. Some states want a 4 year degree, some, high school with training. You need to pass a National Board examination and usually there is a 1-2 year apprenticeship.

You will need medical training for that, you will need to go back to school. You can also talk to a motician and ask to apprentice or shadow as well as talk to them about how they went about getting into their business and follow their lead. Question the ones who are already doing the work.
