Frontline doesn't keep insects from getting on the cat, but it does kill any that bite the cat and consume blood. It works well for ticks and mites -- I haven't found any live ones on him. Occasionally I do find live fleas. It seems to get less effective after about three weeks, rather than the prescribed four.

The drops are placed at the back of the neck, which is a place where a cat cannot lick itself. The liquid will spread itself across the cat's skin at the base of the fur and will provide the pest control that way.

Frontline Plus is used by putting the liquid on the cat's skin. It works by soaking into the cat's skin and kills the fleas and eggs that are on them.

This, in pill form, kills the eggs of fleas, so it does not get rid of the adults in one strike and therefore needs repeated applications in order to be flea free.
