Your thyroid is involved way the way your body produces and uses various hormones. Anesthesia is not a hormone, therefore, it will not affect your thyroid. However, if you have a thyroid condition and are going to be having a procedure that involves anesthesia, you should discuss any concerns you have with your doctor.

If you are under going general anesthesia for a surgical procedure. the anesthesia should not affect your thyroid function. If you have thyroid issues, or are taking thyroid medication, be sure to report this to your surgeon an the anesthesiologist. There are several factors to consider, so make sure your medical team has all the information.
