After you write down the time, date and place of the party you should put "Please Bring A Dish To Pass. " That way it is clearly stated that everyone is expected to bring food.

The best way to suggest this when inviting someone to a pot luck party is to simply say, it is pot luck!

Generally when you want to indicate that, you want to say on the invitation that it is a potluck dinner. Potluck means that everyone brings some food and then everyone shares.

It would be very helpful if you could bring a dish. Or. Please bring a covered dish to the event.
