You can only get wifi in locations that offer wifi to their customers or people that don't take security measures for their routers.

You can only use WiFi around WiFi hotspots. There are add-on cards that allow you to get internet access anywhere your cellphone works. Contact your cellular provider for details.

If there is no key in the wifi net, then just connect the laptop. If you know the key, search for the network and type the key. In both cases, if DHCP is enabled in the network, it should already work fine. Otherwise you will need an IP address from the administrator

as long as your laptop has a wifi card (if not, you can just buy a USB wireless dongle), you can use it to connect to any unsecured wireless connection. If you want internet truly anywhere, you will have to get a contract with a phone company, and have a special USB wireless that works with that phone company.

Really if you want to use it almost anywhere you will need a wireless phone modem to gt internet where no wifi is available. Wif though can be found in a lot of place but you will have to go to different locations and search for open connection and then simply connect to them.
