The Ouija board is used by having two or more people place one hand on the control and asking a question. It 'works' in the sense that a phenomenon known as the ideomotor effect causes your thoughts to cause motion in your hand, entirely without your knowing it - thus the spooky effect Ouija boards are capable of.

you totaly relax your body so that the spirits can move your hands, that is if there are any spirits aound. I believe it works and can be dangerous.

Ouija is used by placing fingertips on a piece, usually a pointer and asking questions. Yes/no questions are easier and get better results. They do work but I don't suggest using one alone if you are inexperienced with the medium.

Yes, they can work in scary ways. Make sure you know how to seal the portal prior to use. Use an invitation, invite spirits, ask questions while concentrating and watch response. Close portal afterwards. Not a toy.
