How do you unlock the ps2 parental password?

I don't know how this got set, but my parents did not set it, and I need to unlock it.

At the screen where you are asked to enter your password, press Select and enter the number 7444. This will take you to the security level adjustment screen; setting it to Off clears the old password. When you're done, make sure there's no disc in your PS2 and reset it.

To reset a PS2 parental password without actually entering the previous password, you would need to unplug the device. Make sure it does not get power for 10-15 minutes.

The universal unlock code for the Play Station 2 is usually 8888, 9999, 0000, or 7777. Due to licence agreements with Sony, these parental controls were put into place by default for certain content ratings. This requirement will not always make sense. I did not have to use it for "Saw V" but I did for Veggitales: Pistachio. Go Figure.

You can either call tech support if you've accidentally forgotten your password. They have fail safes to remedy these kind of situations. For electronic questions like this Iwould refer to either the user manual or consult a trained and licensed electronics expert, as there are many types, and this is broad.

Under custom set up select parental control. Push 'select' on the controller and type in 7444. From there you can adjust the level of parental control or tun it off completly. Once this is done you have to reset the console.

Clear the motherboard RAM. This can be done by unplugging the PS2 from electricity for 24-48 hours minimum, or by opening the PS2 and temporarily removing the battery.
