The HPV infection often clears on its own. If it does not, then there are many types of treatments available such as cryotherapy, electrocautery, laser vaporization and trichloracetic acid application.
Doctors focus on treating the symptoms of the disease. There is no cure for this. The infection does usually clear up on its own. There are high risk types of this disease that can cause cancer, most often cervical cancer. Monitoring is required for this type of HPV.
Although there is a vaccine for HPV, there is no treatment once a person is infected. The virus is harmless to men, but can cause cervical cancer in women.
