To treat hangnails, first cut them off using a clean cuticle scissors. Then to help them heal apply a topical anti-bacterial such as Neosporin and a bandaid, until the wound heals. To prevent further hangnails keep the skin on your hands moisturized using lotion, as needed. Also do not pick or chew your fingers, as this can cause hangnails.

Hangnails can be treated most simple by soaking the nail for ten minutes in warm to hot water, followed by cutting the hangnail as close to where it separates as possible. Next cut a small v in the center of the nail to cause it to grow together. Better yet, see a Podiatrist, they treat hangails; wow.

Soak your hands for 15 minutes nightly in a solution containing a beneficial oil to soften, so you can clip the hangnail without pain and prevent future occurrences.

What works best for me is clipping them close to the skin, then applying aloe to the area to help heal. If they keep snagging on things even after clipping them down i put a band aid over the area after the aloe is applied, that usually does the trick!

I would have to recommend vitamin e oil to keep the cuticles of your nails in a healthy condition. Otherwise, wear a bandaid to keep the hangnail from snagging onto something and it should heal on it's own.

Hangnails get sore and are easily infected. You're supposed to cut the "hanging" part as short as possible. Apply some antibiotic cream and keep covered for a few days.
