As long as the child is not hurting themselves the best way to make it stop is to walk away and ignore them.

Should your child have a temper tantrum, the best thing is to speak softly to the child. Shouting by the parent will only make matters worse. Bending down and kneeling coming down to the childs level to speak to them is also helpful. Offer solutions that the child can choose from.

Ignore them. Toddlers throw temper tantrums when they demand your attention. If you ignore them and their desires they'll learn it's not an effective way to get your attention.

There's two things you shouldn't be ashamed to do at times. The first is ignoring it and the second is bribing your child. If she throws a fit at home just ignore it. Sometimes toddlers do this for detention and they will learn to stop if you don't pay attention. Bribe her if you need to get through the store.

Make sure the child is not somewhere where they hurt themselves and then ignore them, pretend not to pay any attention to what they are doing, walk away. When they do not get the attention for what they are doing little by little they will stop and try something else.
