How do you summarize a movie in English?

It's similar to summarizing books, you may find the W-Questions helpful (who/where/when/what and possibly why). Stick to those and everything important should get covered. The What part will take up most of the summary, together with Why, both telling people about conflicts between the main characters. Movies have more events than books, but not all are important for a summary.

Name the main characters, the problem, and plot. Star Wars example: This movie is about a young boy, Luke, facing his destiny and place in life with the help and teachings of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Along the way, he meets the rogue Han Solo and the princess Leia and together they fight their way through the oppressive empire and Darth Vader.

Describe the main plot and the character(s). Resident Evil can be summarized as when a big corporation called Umbrella's experiment with a deadly virus goes wrong, the entire world rapidly turns into zombies. A handful of survivors lead by Alice, whose body is the only one that's resistant to the virus, fight to kill the zombies and destroy Umbrella.
