There are many over-the-counter medicines available to stop vomiting. They are available in form of pill, liquid or tablets that disslove under the tongue. An oral solution made of 1 teaspoon sugar and 1/4 teaspoon salt diluted in 1 glass of water should be taken in small quantities, to avoid dehydration.

There used to be an over the counter remedy for a thick coke syrup that would stop the sickness. Some people swear that jello slowly drank before it sets would stop the vomiting. If it lasts longer than three days, see your doctor to avoid dehydration.

To stop vomiting an anti-emetic should be given to the patient. Anti-emetic is a type of drug that is effective against vomiting and nausea. This is easily available over the counter. Anti-emetics inhibits the receptor sites associated with emesis or vomiting. Therefore, anticholinergics, antihistamines, dopamine antagonists, serotonin antagonists and cannabinoids are used as anti-emetics.
