Keep the room cool by either opening a window or turning on a fan. Avoid eating spicy foods, drinking alcohol or smoking, which can increase your body's temperature. Take natural supplements, such as black cohosh, wild yam or red clover. Always consult your physician before trying any new treatments.

Keep your rooms always well ventilated and cool. Cool environment reduces hot flashes. Try to wear clothes which can take up heat. Loosely fitted clothes will do good as they allow air circulation to keep you cool. Drinking plenty of water also helps. Reduce spicy foods and hot drinks.

Herbal remedies are the best for those who cannot take hormones. The herb, "Don Quai" is good for all sorts of female problems and is the very best for hot flashes. It is also wise to maintain an adequate diet with vitamin supplements.

Hot flashes can be alleviated somewhat by using soy based products. There are various tablets you can use or make meals with soy beans,or cook with low sodium soy sauce. Get plenty of rest and exercise. Try to get 8 oz. of water daily.

You need to drink plenty of water, don't over exert yourself and stay away from hot food items like curry, salsa, pepper and ginger. Most foods that cause heartburn are also the cause of hot flashes because it irritants the senses, so staying away from acidic foods will help. You should also stay away from cigarette smoke.

Black Cohash pills work well. You can get them at stores like Whole Foods. Also, I think that I used Rose Hips pills--also avail. at health food stores--but I'm unsure--it's been many years, but I know it was something with "rose" in it. You can take both at same time.
