Place the brown sugar in a plastic bag. Add one or two slices of white bread. Seal the bag. The sugar will absorb the moisture from the bread.

To soften brown sugar, place in a microwave-safe container or bowl and microwave in 10 second intervals until it softens. Usually about 20 seconds; do this in small batches.
