How do you scan a document into MS Word?

First you'd need a scanner of course. The trouble with documents and scanners is once you scan something it turns into a picture. You'd then have to find OCR software (look online, some is free) to "recognize" the words of a document, allowing you to copy/paste into MS Word. Otherwise you can import the picture into a MS Word doc.

Windows Vista and XP has a built in program that should handle the scanner. Once the item is scanned you will click on the image to highlight it. Open word then drag and drop.
