How do you replace the starter on a 2000 Explorer Sport?

You have to get under the truck and locate the starter. After you locate it, you must unhook the battery After doing so, unhook the red wire that's hooked to the starter. Then remove the three or four bolts that fasten it to the flywheel on the transmission. Remove starter and replace it with a new one.

There are 3-4 bolts holding the starter on the bellhousing under the passenger side of the vehicle. You must disconnect the positive and negative leads going to the starter.

The starter is going to be located on the right side of the motor on the bottom. 3 bolts will hold it on and one is in the transmission.

The starter is going to be located need the transmission under the explorer. You need to jack up the SUV to have access to it. Then just unbolt the two connecting screws and unlpug the wire harness.
