You must first drop the fuel tank down. Then remove the ring and pull out the pump assembly and replace it. Then reinstall the tank.

The best thing to do when you are going to replace your fuel pump is to drive the car until you are almost empty. You will then need to take the gas tank off and then you can open the top of the tank and take the pump out of it.

It really depends on the Chevy. On most car models, you will need to drop the fuel tank under the car, to access the fuel pump.
