How do you remove an engine oil pan?

Generally, the engine will need to be raised on its mounts by using an engine hoist or jack. Then it's just a matter of removing the bolts on the pan.

drain the oil, from under the car, locate the oil pan and remove all the bolts holding it in and gentle pry it apart, scrap off old gasket, apply new

All you need to remove an engine oil pan is an adjustable wrench and a pair of gloves, because it's a messy job. You'll also need a skateboard or some type of floor covering, because you'll be laying on your back under the car. The oil pan will slide out easily.

Raise the front end of the vehicle on a jack. Chock the rear wheels and set the brake in motion. Put a catch under the oil pan and remove the drain plug. This will catch the excess oil that spills out. Then remove the motor mounts and pull the oil pan out.

I cannot explain the exact process without knowing what vehicle and engine you are talking about. I can tell you the most engine simple have the pan bolted on from the bottom. So to remove it simple undo the bolts.
