Being that the entire air condition system is under pressure, best results is to take it to someone qualified. If you want to do it yourself, remove the compressor. Remove the clutch disc and hub. Remove the pulley and clutch ring. Remove compressor pulley and air conditioner field coil. Install is the reverse.
The A/C clutch is found below the far left A/C vent on a Ford. To remove it, unscrew the plastic casing and pull down on the release handle. It's important to be careful because this part is delicate.
Remove the compressor. Then remove the clutch disc and hub. Then you have to remove the pulley and and clutch ring. Your next step will be by removing the compressor pulley. then you need to remove the air conditioner field coil. You have removed the a/c clutch. To install the new on is by doing the same step just backwards.
Disconnect Battery, Relieve pressure in the system, loosen belt tensioner, remove belt, disconnect a/c hoses, remove all bolts holding on clutch, remove from vehicle
Remove the compressor, clutch disk and hub. Remove the pulley and clutch ring.You need to remove the compressor pulley and now the a/c field coil. Once you have done that you are ready to install the new one follow directions backwards to install.
The compressor works and when it did kick on, the A/C blew cold. Clean pulley bearing surface of A/C compressor head to remove any dirt or corrosion. Install A/C clutch pulley retaining snap ring with bevel side of snap ring out.
