The easiest way to reformat and reinstall WinXP is to reboot the computer with the WinXP CD in the CD drive and proceed through the setup routine.

You boot from your winodows cd,enter through the process,select no when you are asked about repair,then go to the window where you will have on your screen where is your windows installed,select esc and then you can format from there

Insert the Windows disc into the drive and boot from disc from BIOS. Run the installation process, following all instructions. Install drivers in correct order.

Well if you are formatting the main hard drive you will need to burn a disk with a formatting tool that you can boot from. Then boot from it and run the formatter and it will be ready for a clean install of the OS.
