You can prune variegated privet in the late Spring making sure to remove any dead branches or growth in an unwanted direction. Prune to desired size. The variegated privet has been known to grow solid leaves so also prune those so your whole plant stays variegated.

Variegated privets do not need to be pruned. It is okay to remove dead branches any time of the year and should be done with pruning sheers
