You build a simulated world by constructing highly customized characters, locations, and items. You can then control your characters in this virtual world that you have created. There are different options based on which version of the SIMS you are playing.

You must select a town. Either play on the ready-made families or make a family of your own. You can also create your own house and decorate it yourself. You control every person in the family and make them do any task you want them to according to their needs and wants.
