There is no easy way to accomplish this without being either a trained or skill botanist. There are so many different varieties of this plant type there is no Generic-Way.

Make sure the soil you are putting them in is warm and well worked. Then dig the holes and put just a little water in to moisten the soil at the bottom then pu the bulbs in and cover do not packe the soil and water well. In just a few weeks they should be popping up.

Small pots seem to be favorites of the orchid plants. Select potting soil appropriate for orchids. Plant bulbs, making sure there is appropriate drainage. Plenty of light and lightly fertilize when orchid is in active growth mode. Orchids must have air circulation. The tropical variety, on the most part, like to grow on bark slabs and sphagnum moss. Do not overwater.

Orchids need special soil, which is available in many stores. This soil should be very fluffily and absorbent. Take a pot with hole in the ground, then fill it with soil. The soil should cover the bulb a bit. Then put the pot into hand-warm water for an hour, after that let it drain off.

What you have is really not a true bulb. It is most likely a rhizome. Plant the rhizome horizontally in a pot that is big enough to contain that rhizome and an addition of two more pseudobulbs popping out.

If the bulbs (roots) are fat then plant them above a bed of bark mulch and if the roots are less fat plant them in sphagnum moss.

You should get a book on those types of plants. Or go to a nursery theu could help you out with that.
