Give at least 2 watts\gallon of water with full spectrum light bulbs, maintaining a temperature of 59 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Anacharis plants do better with an alkaline nature of 3-8 dKH and neutral pH 6.5-7.5. Propagate anacharis or elodia by cuttings off of older, thriving specimens. Anacharis looks great when propagated in groups alongside the walls of the aquarium.

Dig a small, shallow hole into the gravel. Insert each strand of anacharis into the gravel. Go an inch deep. Cover the edges with gravel. Do this to each strand.

Unband anything this binds it like rubber bands or ties that keep the roots together. To plant in gravel, just make an insert into the gravel about 2 inches and insert the plants roots first.

You would want to start the root base in water, and make sure the roots are substantial. Then simple plant in the gravel - plant them deep so the roots are covered and anchored well.

This plant,Anacharis is probably the most common aquarium plant. Anacharis will root if the shoots are buried in the gravel. They grow very well in ponds and will survive in cold water. The stems will grow up to 13 ft. (3-4 meters) so in an aquarium they will need to be trimmed.
