The mass of a chemical is commonly measured on a balance. There are mechanical balances, such as the triple-beam balances commonly found in high school and undergraduate chemistry labs, and there are precision electronic balances used in research laboratories. Better balances can measure smaller quantities with more precision.

Mass is wieght divided by gravity. That is the formula for determining an objects mass if you have the numbers for weight and gravity.
