Hard candy can be made with sugar, flavorings, and a candy thermometer. Chocolates and other things can be made with chocolate and other ingredients.

That depends on the candy you want. A pretty simple recipe is caramels. Take a cup of sugar and water, dissolve sugar in water and bring to a boil, stir constantly to soft ball stage. Add a dash of heavy cream and am eighth cup of butter if you like soft caramels. Spoon and let dry on parchment.
