Basically, a lariat necklace is simply a long string of beads, with no clasps. The end pieces should be a bit bigger and heavier, in order to hold the lariat in place while on. I personally use chain, then add beads on every few inches, usually different shapes but in the same color family.

Lariat necklaces are easy to make, they are just normally much longer than regular necklaces. You can put the toggle in the center, or leave it open and "knot" it.

Buy a string at local supplier. Order the special material online, it's cheaper, even with postage. Then connect the beads in a rhythmic way, some sort of symmetry is always good here. In the end, the knot is the most important part. Otheriwse the beads get loose and fall off.
