The primary HIV tests all involve blood samples. Certain rapid HIV testing methods can use saliva, but all positive results MUST be verified by a blood test.

There is no way to tell without having a blood test. People with HIV often have no symptoms whatsoever for years.

There are subtle symptoms of an HIV infection including fatigue, headache, and fever, but most people have no symptoms. If you think you've been exposed, seek medical testing ASAP.
