Whitefly infestation on plants can be controlled using several methods. Sprays with pyrethrum or neem will control the pests, but you must take care to spray both the top and bottom side of the leaves. There are also sticky traps that can be used to control a whitefly infestation, though careful placement of the trap is necessary.

A natural enemy of the white fly is the ladybug. If you have a more serious case, you can use an insecticide such as "Ortho Diazinon Plus Insect Spray" for outdoor plants.

A weekly application of insecticide should eliminate white flies. The insecticied should be placed on the top and bottom of the plant to be effective. Additionally, screens and windows should be closed to eliminate an access point for the pests.

A mixture of two tablespoons dishsoap to one quart water in a spray bottle is an effective and environmental safe alternative to insecticides.
