How do you install carpet and padding on a stairway?

Make sure to put a mark on the stairs and cut the padding to its size. Lay it down and get it as tight to the edge of the stair as possible. Use a staple gun to keep it in its place. By repeating these steps with the carpet, you should be good to go.

tack strip should be installed about 3/4 of an inch from the back of the tread with a piece about the same distance from the bottom of the riser. Padding should be installed stair width running from the front of the tackstrip on the tread down and over the nose of the stair(stapled. attach carpet to tacks on riser....stretch.
