You can generally simply plug the adapter into your USB port, and then plug the other end into whatever device you are attempting to connect to the PC via the USB ab adapter. USB adapter cables do not require unique drivers. If you are reeceiving driver errors, it is likely from the connecting device.

What you say of USB cables not giving driver errors is true EXCEPT to the extent if you have an older 1.1 version cable it would create a log jam if used in a 2.0 port and therefore cause an error report.  add a comment

USB adapters of any kind are plug-and-play by definition. The only potential problems are if the device is actually broken (most likely) or if you have an arcane OS which doesn't work properly with the default or provided drivers for the device. Generally drivers are not needed as they are included in the OS (Operating System) itself.

The first thing to check is that you have the correct type of USB adapter. There are several different sizes and configurations so you need to make sure the wire and hole are the same size.

You should just need to plug it into your USB port. The A/B adapter simply converts one size USB plug to another.
