Years ago I helped my father install a garage door opener which he had never done before and it was hard to do so I would recommend a professional installation.

A garage door opener attaches at 2 point, on the wall over the door and to the ceiling. First attach the bracket to the wall at the correct height, attach the beam to the bracket. Lift the motor end and place on a ladder. Mark the locations for the holes in the ceiling and attach the unit.

Installing a garage door opener is not as hard as garage door companies make it out to be. It is definitely something you can do yourself. Often it will take 45 minutes or less; the instructions that come with the garage door opener are very easy to understand. If they are confusing, a google search always helps.

All systems are a little different so it is best to just use your users manual to instruct you on how to install the product. There are also numerous how to sites available

I think all you do is follow a series of buttons on the remote. My mom programed two after my dad's car was stolen when I was a kid. I think they even all come with instructions, as well. You could probably also ask the company how hard it is and they would probably be able to tell you.
