Question by  Vic (38)

How do you install a 1990 Chevy 350 drive belt?

I need to know what tools to use and what precautions I should take when installing the belt.

Make sure you have purchased the correct belt. Look for a diagram of the belt routing (or draw one). Loosen the tensioner and remove the old belt. Reinstall the new belt the same way the old one came off. You will need a socket set, open end wrenches, and screwdrivers.

Pry the idler tension pulley back and got remove the belt. Many idlers have hole, where we can use a ratchet to pry the pulley. Remove the old drive belt and install the new belt to the pulley.

If you are wanting to install this type of belt you will need to first get under the hood. Then you can install the belt which is located near the motor.
