First you need to make sure that the baby opossum is actually orphaned and is in need of your help, and then make sure that you warm the opossum. Offer the opossum a pedialyte solution, and make sure that you clean out all animal waste to prevent bloating of the baby opossum.

Wrap the orphaned baby opossum in a cloth and hold them against your body. Once the babies are no longer cold, place them in a box, basket or plastic container with layered cotton cloth. Place this box on top of a heating pad set on Low. If the babies are older and well furred give them fluids to keep them hydrated.

Check to see if opossum is injured.Use warm blankets or a heating pad set on low to warm it. Use a 1cc syringe to provide hydration. Dilute formula 1 part formula to 2 parts water. Provide adequate shelter by using a box and placing it in a dark space. Call your local wildlife animal rescue for further instructions and placement.

You contact your local wildlife rehabilitation group and arrange a pick up. Almost all states have laws against unlicensed people caring for wildlife. Keep it warm, quiet and hydrated.
